Zelma Winn, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, August 26, 2012 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
No services are planned. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Zelma was born October 8, 1921 in Chanute, Kansas to John & Annie Showalter. In the late 1920s the family moved to Long Beach, California. In 1939 she married Wayne F. Grunder and they had two children, Carol Tucker and Fred Grunder. After a divorce in 1961 she married Jason R. Winn in 1963 in Redding, California. In 1972 they moved to Grants Pass and lived on New Hope Road until health issues forced a move to Fairview.
Zelma and Jason enjoyed a trip in their pickup and trailer to Alaska in 1965; a trip to Hawaii several years later; and other trips in the United States. She loved sewing; all types of crafts; hunting; fishing; and especially time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She loved helping others.
Survivors include a daughter, Carol Tucker and a son, Fred Grunder both of Grants Pass, Oregon; three stepchildren, Bonnie Harper of Paradise, California, Melvin Winn of Redding, California, and Earl Winn of Grants Pass, Oregon; 16 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Ada Miller of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother, John Showalter; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jason Winn in 2006; a great-grandson, Steven Lee Wayne Tucker in 1980; and a grandson, Chet Boyer in 2001.
