Yoon Ja "Linda" Rigel

Yoon Ja “Linda” Rigel passed away Jan. 20, 2016, at her home in Brookings.

She was born Aug. 4, 1942, in Seoul, Korea.

She met Howard Rigel, her husband of 52 years, while he was stationed there in the U.S. Army.
Linda emigrated to Cave Junction in 1963. The family moved to Brookings in 1973, where they began commercial fishing. In Brookings, Linda worked at Eureka Fisheries and Brookings Plywood.

She always enjoyed tending her garden and fish pond and long walks through the town. She also enjoyed being surrounded by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived in death by her husband Howard Rigel of Brookings; daughter Debbie Spencer of Brookings; sons Dave Rigel of Las Vegas and Howard Rigel of Eugene. Also surviving are seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her son Richard Rigel.

A memorial service will be at 1 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 31, at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors, 26569 Redwood Highway, Cave Junction.
