W.L. “Bill” Pearce, age 84, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, October 13, 2013 at his home.
A celebration of life will be at 5:00 p.m., Friday, October 18, 2013 at Murphy Chapel with Pastor J.C. Holden officiating. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Bill was born March 3, 1929 in Scio, Oregon to David & Ethel Pearce. On January 29, 1947 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was stationed at the San Diego Naval Training Center for boot camp. After 20 years serving in the Navy he was honorably discharged. In July 1969 he moved from Brunswick, Maine to Grants Pass.
Bill was a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Fleet Reserve.
His hobbies included repairing things, fishing, hunting, and working on his property.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley May Pearce of Grants Pass, Oregon; six children, Stephen Pearce of Seminole, Oklahoma, Gregory Cormier of Los Gatos, California, Lorraine Oden of Grants Pass, Oregon, Clyde Pearce of Grants Pass, Oregon, David Pearce of Olympia, Washington and Wilene Aguilar of Grants Pass, Oregon; four sisters, Betty Bass of Fresno, California, Darlene Benetti, Hazel Wiensz and Myrtle Dean all of Grants Pass, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
