Winona Marie “Y” Leach, age 86, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at her home.
A viewing will be from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 14, 2011 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A graveside service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2011 at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
A gathering of family and friends with a pie social will begin at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 14, 2011 at Jerome Prairie Bible Church. Please bring a pie to share.
Remembrances may be made to Jerome Prairie Bible Church Mission Fund.
Winona was born September 2, 1925 in Genoa, Colorado to Albert & Dessie Wolverton. At age 13, she moved with her family from Colorado to Rako, Minnesota. While living in Rako she met and later married Philip Leach on February 24, 1943 in Baudette, Minnesota. In 1948 she moved from Minnesota to Grants Pass, Oregon.
Winona attended Jerome Prairie Bible Church where she taught Sunday school.
Her hobbies included sewing, flower gardening, quilting, cooking and spending time with her family and especially her great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Philip Leach of Grants Pass, Oregon; Winona is survived by two daughters, Alice Teer of Grants Pass, Oregon and Jeannie Hooper of Bend, Oregon; two sons, Allen Leach and Steven Leach both of Grants Pass, Oregon; two sisters, Martha Crabtree of Bremond, Texas and Becky Zelmer of Medford, Oregon; a brother, Bill Wolverton of Kennewick, Washington; 11 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Val Wolverton and two sisters, Virginia Noble and Sarah Fitch.
