Winnie Walker

October 30, 1922 — April 29, 2007

Glendale resident, Winnie Walker, age 84, died on Sunday, April 29, 2007 at the home of her daughter, Nina Kemp, in Portland, Oregon.

Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 4, 2007 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service to honor Winnie’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, May 5th, 2007 at the Glendale Assembly of God Church with Pastor Terry Bess officiating. Interment will follow the service at the Glendale Memorial Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Winnie was born October 30, 1922 in Burnsville, North Carolina to Fred and Fannie Williamson. She married Rudolph Walker on March 22, 1943 in Jamestown, Tennessee.

Winnie was a member of Glendale Assembly of God Church where she was active in the Ladies Missionary Group and as a Missionettes leader. She served on the Glendale City Council for five years and was also on the city’s Planning Commission. She also did volunteer work at that St. Vincent DePaul twice a week.

Winnie especially enjoyed sewing and doing whatever she was able to help others.

Survivors include her daughter, Nina Kemp of Portland; three sisters, Glenna McCaslin of Grants Pass, Thelma Webber of Glendale, and Blanche Ronchi of Roseburg; a brother, Ernest Williamson of Grants Pass; and her two grandchildren, Mindy Koontz of Gresham and David Kemp of Portland.

Winnie was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Walker in 1997; a sister; and five brothers.
