William Andrew Russell

William Andrew Russell, age 94, of Grants Pass, died October 12, 2024 at his home.

In my own father's words...."I was born in my grandmother's bed on May 24, 1930 on a farm near the small town of Allen, Oklahoma. My father was a farm worker so the dust took away his job. Like the other farmers in the area, he started thinking of a way to escape. There were rumors of a wonderful place with lots of jobs. A beautiful place with beautiful weather was there to be had." So began the story of a man whose humble beginning during the "Great Depression" left a legacy behind for us, his child, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He was a Senior Design Engineer at Lockheed Missiles and Space in Sunnyvale, California. He pioneered many things in engineering and instrumentation; but more than that, he taught us how to live and excel, to take nothing and make it something! ~ Mary Ann Hale, Daughter Oct 17, 2024 

William is survived by his daughter Mary Anne Hale, Grandsons William Campbell, Sean Campbell, Robert Campbell and Adam Vogel and Great Grandchildren Justin Vogel, Calvin Campbell, Megan Campbell, Madelyn Campbell, Miriam Campbell, William Campbell and Kaitlyn Vogel. 

A service will be held at a later date.
