William George Foster passed away in his sleep Tuesday, February 9, 2021, in Grants Pass, Oregon, surrounded by loving family.
Bill was born to George & Florence Foster in Beaufort, South Carolina in 1947. He graduated high school in Grants Pass in 1965 and remained in the valley. Bill taught Judo at the Boys & Girls Club for a while and once took a pupil of his across country to a tournament, all on his own dime. He was at one time a bartender at Cody’s Tavern, and he worked on the spreaders at a few of the local plywood mills. Bill spent a few years working at US Forest Service Campgrounds as host and caretaker, prior to moving to Richland, Washington, where he worked at an RV resort for the last 15 years. He moved back to Grants Pass last year to be near family as he was fighting lung cancer.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, George & Florence Foster. He is survived by his sisters Kay Foster-Joseph and Linda Whalen, as well as many nieces and grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
