William “Bill” Sandberg, age 88, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, October 28, 2010 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
No services are planned. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Bill was born February 11, 1922 in Oakland, California to Conrad & Dorothy Sandberg. During World War II he served in the United States Navy and during the Korean War he served in the United States Army. In 1945 in Northern California he married Billee McKeen. Bill worked as a truck driver for Yellow Freight and Granny Goose in Castro Valley, California until his retirement at age 62. He moved from Castro Valley to Grants Pass in 2000.
He volunteered with the Grants Pass Public Safety Auxiliary for ten years.
An avid Oakland Raiders fan, Bill also enjoyed coaching and maintaining baseball fields for the Castro Valley Little League and was active as a Cub Scout volunteer.
In addition to his beloved wife of 66 years, Billee Sandberg of Grants Pass, Oregon; he is survived by a son, Craig Sandberg of Grants Pass, Oregon; a daughter, Lee Lapp of Dublin, California; three grandsons; and five great-grandsons.
He was preceded in death by a brother.
