Waunetta Winter, age 90, of Cave Junction, died Wednesday, June 15, 2016 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.
Waunetta was born December 26, 1925 in Fort Collins, Colorado to Guy & Alice Cunningham. She was raised on the family ranch at Shoshone, Wyoming. For one year she worked for the railroad as a coal car cleaner and in the engine. She then attended nursing school in Rock Springs and Rawlins, Wyoming. After World War II she returned home to Shoshone. In October 1947 in Boise, Idaho Waunetta married Egbert “Bud” Winter. She worked in various restaurants, but mostly enjoyed being a homemaker. In 1973 she moved from French Camp, California to Cave Junction.
Her hobbies included crocheting, sewing, and baking, especially cookies for her husband and close friends. She also enjoyed large get-together fiestas.
Survivors include her husband, Egbert “Bud” Winter of Cave Junction; two daughters, Alice Marler of Cave Junction and Theresa Smith of Crescent City, California; a brother Hiram Cunningham of Oregon; five grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
Private services will be held. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
