Wanda Mae Hatfield

April 18, 1927 — October 28, 2018

Wanda Mae Hatfield, 91, of Grants Pass, OR, passed to her eternal home in Heaven on Sunday, October 28, 2018. She was born (an identical twin) on April 18, 1927 to Albert and Edith Black in Amarillo, TX; the youngest of 5. Shortly after her birth, the family relocated to Glidden, Iowa where Wanda and her twin, Wanita grew up and graduated from Glidden High School.

Wanda’s mission in life was to serve others as modeled by Jesus Christ, her trusted friend throughout her life. Her legacy of service began as a missionary. Wanda and her twin sister traveled across the country singing duets for church services, radio broadcasts and serving in various capacities. After her mission tour, Wanda and her sister moved to Fort Dodge, Iowa and worked as nurses aids at Fort Dodge General Hospital.

Wanda met the love of her life, Robert Hatfield, at a summer Bible Camp and later married the young chiropractor on September 7, 1957. The happy couple settled in Galena, Illinois where they started raising their three children, Sabin (1960), Rhonda (1963) and Stacy (1966). In 1972, the family moved to the neighboring town of Elizabeth, Illinois where Wanda sprouted deep roots in the community and especially with Woodbine Grace Bible Church, where she spread her beautiful gifts of servanthood to everyone she met for many years. She poured her heart and soul into being a homemaker and our home overflowed with her love. She was an amazing cook and mastered the art of making the perfect gingersnap.

Wanda and Robert retired in 2002 and moved to Broomfield, CO where they thoroughly enjoyed their retirement; traveling, lovingly spoiling grandchildren/great grandchildren and of course immersing themselves in their beloved Tri City Baptist Church.

In 2010 and after 52 wonderful years of marriage, Robert passed away. Subsequently, in 2011 Wanda moved to be with her daughter (Rhonda and family) in Grants Pass, Oregon. There she lived out the remaining years of her life doing what she loves most; spending precious time with family, baking, making new friends at Faith Baptist Church, serving others and spreading love to everyone she met.

She will be greatly missed, but we are filled with joy as she is now reunited with cherished loved ones and her very best friend throughout her lifetime, Jesus.

Survivors include: 3 Children; Sabin Hatfield & significant other, Amy Weed, Rhonda Hatfield-Baumann and husband Kirk, Stacy Hatfield-Judson & partner for life, Clive Oldfield; 8 nieces and nephews; 12 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by her grandson, Daniel Judson.

A visitation will be held at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors in Grants Pass on the evening of Tuesday, November 6, 2018 from 5:30-7:30. A memorial service will be held at Faith Baptist Church in Grants Pass on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Ft. Logan National Cemetery in Denver, CO on November 15, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.
