Walter Zech Jr, age 90, of Grants Pass, died July 9, 2020 at his home.
Walter was born November 19, 1929 in Toledo, Ohio to Walter & Ann Zech. While living in Bellflower, California he worked for McDonald-Douglas (now Boeing) in Long Beach, California for 28 years as a machinist. He then worked for Tustin Homes in Tustin, California for 10 years as a building supervisor. On August 30, 1980 in Reno, Nevada he married Alma Lee Negri. Upon retirement in 1993, Walter & Alma moved from Long Beach to Stover, Missouri, a lifelong dream of Walter’s. He lived and gardened at his farm in Missouri until moving to Grants Pass in September 2007.
Walter who was baptized in 1983 in Klamath Falls, Oregon, was a member of the Philadelphia Church of God.
His hobbies included woodworking, gardening and he could repair anything. He was especially proud of the 1959 Chevrolet Apache that he completely re-built.
Survivors include his wife Alma Zech; four sons Steven Zech, Walter Lee Zech, Michael Zech and Timothy Zech; two stepsons Peter Negri and Richard Negri; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and six nephews and nieces Larry Zech, Sharon Pettijohn, Dennis Zech, Paul Zech, Deanna Bacoccini, and Vicki Levousser.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers Paul Zech and Larry Zech.
A memorial service will be at 12 Noon, July 26, 2020 at Philadelphia Church of God, Grange Hall, 3811 Melrose Road, Roseburg, Oregon 97471.
