Walter B. Phillips

Walter B Philllips, age 46, of Cave Junction, crossed over on April 29, 2012 at Providence Medical Center in Medford, from complications after being shot.

A celebration of life will be from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00, Wednesday, May 9, 2012 at Illinois Valley Chapel in Cave Junction. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Walt was born in San Francisco, California on November 5, 1965 to Kenneth and Avonda Phillips. He moved to Selma as a young child and was raised there. Walt was a wood cutter by trade and the woods were the love of his life, it is where he found his serenity.

He enjoyed working with his hands and created beautiful wood art.

Survivors include three children Kenny Phillips, Maria B. Coffey and Louis G.J. Coffey of Utah; a sister, Tara Coon of Cave Junction; two brothers, Bob Phillips of Florida and Anthony Herman of Cave Junction; a granddaughter, Isabella who is also in Utah; his mother, Avonda Phillips and his beloved wife Sonya “Sunny” Phillips who remained by his side, both are from Cave Junction. Walt had too numerous of friends to list. And I cannot leave out his awesome wood customers that he had so much heart for.
