Virginia L. Kurko

Virginia L. Kurko, age 73, of Cave Junction, died Saturday, January 4, 2014 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Virginia was born January 4, 1941 in Sharpsburg, Kentucky to Edgar & Minnie Petitt. At age 15 she married Lucian C. Ashcraft and they later divorced in 1967. In 1971 she moved from Ohio to Florida. She received her GED and attended community college in Melbourne, Florida. She went on to a Bible college where she earned her doctorate in Theology. In 1975 she married Bob Kurko and in 1979 they started traveling cross-country visiting every state except Hawaii as evangelists. She moved from Ramona, California to Cave Junction 20+ years ago.

Virginia and Bob pastored First Love Christian Fellowship until illness forced them to retire two years ago.

Virginia volunteered as a tutor and was an accomplished organist and singer. She authored two published books, Created to Bring Forth and Woman, Where Is Thine Accuser.

Virginia especially enjoyed being a grandmother and recently the joy of her life was becoming a great-grandmother.

Survivors include her husband, Bob Kurko of Cave Junction and Grants Pass; a daughter, Vivian McGivern of Cave Junction; a stepdaughter, Michelle; a stepson, Chris; a sister, Peggy Cloud of Fairfield, Ohio; three grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a son, Randall Clifford Ashcraft in 1980.
