Vilas Theron "Bob" Robertson

Vilas Theron (Bob) Robertson, age 97, died on Sunday, December 12, 2010, surrounded by his family at his home in Grants Pass. He was born to Huron and Anna Robertson on February 17, 1913, in Farmington, New Mexico. He graduated from Long Beach Poly Tech in 1931. On July 21, 1937 he married Eileen Henage in Jerome, Idaho and spent the rest of his life totally devoted to her. In 1945 he started working for the Naval Ammunition Depot in Hawthorne, Nevada where they lived until he retired in 1975. At that time they moved to Grants Pass, Oregon where they have lived for the past 35 years. They are members of the Redwood Country Church. Bob and Eileen celebrated their 73 wedding anniversary this past July. The love and respect they have had for each other is an inspiration for generations to come. Up until a few years ago Bob was an avid gardener, even in the desert of Nevada he was able to provide bounty for his family. He and his wife were ‘rock-hounds’ and spent many winters in Quartzsite, AZ at the renowned annual pow-wow. He was a life-time member of the Masonic Lodge. He loved his family and retained his legendary sense of humor to the very end.

He is survived by his beloved wife Eileen Robertson, his son Roger Robertson and wife MJ of Amarillo, TX, his son Fred Robertson and wife Gail of Glendale, OR, daughter Lorna (Lori) Jensen and her husband Phil of Glendale, OR., nine grandchildren, thirty-one great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by his granddaughter Rebeccah Robertson.

A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

His funeral will be held at the Redwood Country Church on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 2:00PM. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
