Victor Virgil “Vic” Lee, age 91, passed away on December 17, 2012 in Grants Pass, Oregon. He was born in Oakland, California and lived there until the age of five when he moved with his family to Vallejo, California. When he was 15 he became an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Vallejo High School with the class of January 1939. He attended Sacramento Junior College.
He enlisted in the “Seabee” US Navy in December 1942 and was honorably discharged in February 1946. He worked at Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo, California. He started as a window clerk and retired December 31, 1975 as Manager of Stations and Branches after working for the Vallejo Post Office for 36 years.
In November, 1975 he married Rose Marie Jones. They traveled the world and all 50 states making special friends everywhere they went. Their favorite place was New Zealand. Vic enjoyed football and had a season pass to Caveman football in Grants Pass. He enjoyed playing his keyboard at home.
Vic was a member of Naval Lodge #87, F&AM, Scottish Rite of Oakland California, life member of the Royal Arch Masons, Ben Ali Temple of the Shrine and Legion of Honor in Ben Ali Temple. After moving to Grants Pass, Oregon in 2000, he joined Hillah Shriner’s, Josephine County Shrine Club, Grants Pass Lodge #84 and Rogue River #226, AF&AM. He played his piano for his Masonic Lodge. He was a member of the Moose Lodge #2454, Elks Lodge #1584 BPOE, NARFE Chapter 134 and American Legion Post 28 in Grants Pass, Oregon.
He is survived by his wife Rose Marie, his daughter Sandy (Steve) of Vallejo, California and their children Ryan and Matthew (Nancy), and daughter Diane of Medford, Oregon, her daughter Jackie (Danny) and their children Christopher (serving in the Navy), Daniel, Gabriel and Kayla.
He is preceded in death by his son Loren, who died serving his country in Vietnam, his brother Norman of Vallejo, California and his parents.
A memorial service will be held at Bethany Presbyterian Church, 741 NW 4th Street, Grants Pass, Oregon on February 16, 2013 at 11:00 a.m.
