Vic Mabry was born in Southern California on November 21, 1917. He lived most of his early life in Los Angeles, attending Hyde Park Elementary, Horace Mann Jr. High, and graduating from Canoga Park High School in 1935. In 1940, Vic joined the United States Army and remained in the service until the end of World War II. He was stationed mainly in the South Pacific during the war. After the war, he settled in the San Fernando Valley, raised a family, and worked for the Veterans Administration until his retirement in 1972 when he moved to Malibu, California and enjoyed beach living for several years. Wanting a change, in 1978 he moved to Lake Havasu City, Arizona, where, for more than a decade he wrote poems for the “Lake Havasu Herald”, and became the city’s unofficial poet laureate. In 2002, Vic moved to Rogue River, Oregon to be close to his daughters. He wrote poems for the “Rogue River Press” every week for several years. Vic enjoyed writing poems and limericks to have some fun with words and to make people smile.

Vic Mabry is survived by his daughters Mary Mabry, Geri Glascock and son-in-law Bob Glascock, and two grand-daughters, Cyndi and Jennifer, two grandsons Duane and Derek, and two great-grandsons Austin and Dalton.
