Veneta L. Pemberton

Our beloved wife, mother, nana, sister, and aunt, Veneta Louise Pemberton, 78, passed away on June 28, 2017, at Rogue Regional Medical Center in Medford, OR. She was surrounded by her loving family and was being held close in the hearts of so many others.

Veneta was born in Salem, OR, to Dace and Aletha Wallace on January 18, 1939. She grew up living in Salem and the surrounding area and on September 21, 1956, she married James “Burl” Pemberton in Stayton, OR. She and Burl built a life together, living at various times in Mehama, Lyons, Jordan Valley and Salem, OR, with their first 3 children. In 1965, they relocated to Grants Pass, OR, where their youngest child was born.

Veneta chose to dedicate her life to her family and to always putting others needs above her own. She wanted her life to be a reflection of her Lord Jesus Christ and those that knew her would say it truly was. She poured love into the lives and hearts of not only her husband, children and grandchildren but numerous nieces and nephews, extended family, friends and neighbors. She had a sweet, kind and compassionate spirit that made a lasting impact on all those she met. She loved to crochet, knit, quilt, read, go for walks, fishing and camping but most of all she loved spending time with her family and friends.

Veneta was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Burl; her son, David (Tara) Pemberton of Medford, OR; daughter, Mary (John) Calkins of Grants Pass, OR; daughter, Ruth Pemberton of Grants Pass, OR; daughter, Denise (Nathan) Burck of Kalama, WA; grandson, Ryan Hammond, granddaughter Kelsey Pemberton and grandson, Seth Pemberton all of Eugene, OR; granddaughter, Amber Calkins of Seattle, WA; grandson, Brian Calkins, granddaughter, Caitlin Calkins and granddaughter, Breann Pemberton all of Grants Pass, OR; grandson, Aaron (Hannah) Burck of Kalama, WA; grandson, Joshua (Corie) Burck of Minot, ND and great-granddaughter, Elliana Burck of Kalama, WA; brother, Olin Wallace of Montara, CA ; brother Darrel (Sherryll) Wallace of Chariton, IA; Brother-in-law and sister-in-law Merrell and Vickie Pemberton of Sandy, OR, and numerous, beloved nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held at Hull & Hull on Monday, July 10, 2017, from 3:00 - 5:00 pm

Funeral service will be held at Hull & Hull on Tuesday, July 11, 2017, at 10:00 am with Pastor Ron Marsh of Parkway Christian Center officiating. Burial will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
She is a bright light that will be missed but that we know is shining even brighter in heaven.
