Velma B. Montgomery, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Wednesday, January 14, 2009 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A memorial service will be at 1:00p.m., Wednesday, January 21, 2009 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Steven Sparley officiating. Private interment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Velma was born March 30, 1918 in Waterville, Kansas. She graduated from Waterville High School in 1936. In 1937 she moved to Los Angeles, California with her family. On August 26, 1962 in Los Angeles, she married Jack Montgomery who died in 1995. They moved from Ventura, California to Grants Pass in 1983. She had a 38-year career in accounting.
Velma was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church and The Independent Order of Foresters.
Music was an important part of her life. In her younger years, she played the piano, organ, violin, guitar, ukulele and accordion.
She enjoyed playing cards, especially cribbage, making quilts, collecting antiques and needlework.
Survivors include a son, Richard Rager of Los Angeles, California; a daughter, Lynn Rosanbalm of Woodburn; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
