Tony Lee Dechenne

Tony Lee DeChenne, age 58, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, March 12, 2015 at Three Rivers Medical Center.

Tony was born December 8, 1956 in Frankfurt, Germany and in 1959 moved to Grants Pass. At age 14 he worked in the Lathrop hop yards. He graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1975 where he played football, basketball, and baseball. On December 16, 1978 Tony married Kathy Friend. He worked as a heavy equipment operator for John R. Woods Logging, Superior Lumber, and Spalding Mill. For the past 14 years he worked for Knife River Inc.

An avid outdoorsman, Tony especially enjoyed pheasant hunting in South Dakota; fishing in Alaska; deer hunting; elk hunting in Eastern Oregon; and cutting firewood.

Tony loved his family and friends most of all.

He is survived by his wife of 36 years, Kathy DeChenne; daughter, Tonya White and husband Josh; son, Drew DeChenne and wife Tiffany; his parents, Les & Joyce DeChenne; sister, Kim Marchant and husband Brent; brother, Todd DeChenne and wife Melony; sister, Jill Galusha and husband Andy; many cousins, nieces, and nephews; and his beloved bird dog Brook.

Tony was greatly loved and will be deeply missed by all.

A memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015 at Merlin Community Baptist Church.
