Theresa Margaret Higgs, age 89, of Grants Pass, Oregon died Saturday, April 16, 2016 at Kinsington memory care facility.
Theresa Margaret (Kuntz) Higgs born 31 July 1926 to Jeannette McNabney and Otto Elmer Kuntz in Kokomo, Indiana.
Theresa is survived by her four children: Michael Rex Higgs of Gates, Oregon, Deborah Diane Higgs and Valerie Leigh (Higgs) Johnson of Grants Pass, Oregon and Steven Marion Higgs of Eugene, Oregon and a sister Mary Jane (Kuntz) Collins of Grants Pass. She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Marion Higgs, her Mother Jeannette (McNabney) Kuntz, Father Otto Elmer Kuntz both of Kokomo, Indiana a sister Delores Mae (Kuntz) Spicer of Clearfield, Utah and a brother William James Kuntz of Kokomo, Indiana.
Six Grand children: Marsha Ann (Higgs) Lopez, Michael Jack Higgs, Theresa Jo (Higgs) Heckart, Michelle Leigh (Higgs) McCrery, Crystal Lynn (Johnson) Sutton and Nicholas Scott Helms. Also five Great Grand children: Joshua and Jacob Sutton, Ashlei and Kimberly McCrery and Brandy Michelle Higgs.
Theresa went to work for the Stellite Company in Kokomo at the age of 16, she also worked as a telephone operator in her early twenties and in her later years she worked at the J. C. Penney's store in Grants Pass.
Theresa married Jack Marion Higgs in 1945 at the age of 19 in Kokomo, Indiana. Theresa and Jack later moved to Illinois and then to Oregon with Jack's job as a lineman.
Theresa's hobbies were sewing, she made a lot of her own clothes she was on several bowling leagues in Grants Pass and she was an artist and made ceramics. She played poker and mahjong with her friends. She delivered Meals on Wheels for many years, was a volunteer at the Frog O' Fair every year and volunteered at the Family History Center at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints helping patrons look up their ancestors.
A graveside memorial will be at 10:00 a.m., Monday, April 25, 2016 at Granite Hill Cemetery.
