Terry was born March 12, 1926 in Vancouver, Washington to Albert “Bert” Jones & Ruth Andrew Jones. He was the youngest of seven siblings. In 1929 he moved with his family from Vancouver to Grants Pass. In 1944 he graduated from Grants Pass High School and served in the United States Navy for two years, attending college for a time and then served in Guam. After returning to Grants Pass he met and married Elinor Mae Robertson on March 3, 1950. Terry worked many years at Bate Plywood. When the mill closed, Terry worked for the Grants Pass School District in the carpentry and maintenance department and later as the courier for the printing office, a job he greatly enjoyed. In recent years, as his health declined, he lived at Pacific Living Centers in Grants Pass.
Terry enjoyed woodworking and could make anything out of wood. He also enjoyed taking walks with his dog and spending time with his grandchildren whenever they were in town. Terry always loved camping and hiking in the mountains and beaches of Southern Oregon.
He is survived by three children, Jeri Thonstad of Portland, Oregon and Roger Jones and Marga Jones both of Grants Pass, Oregon; a sister, Delma Jean Klassen of Grants Pass, Oregon; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Elinor Mae Jones; four sisters, Frances Hall, Marjorie Varner, Ina Penninger, and Grace Jones; and a brother, Myron D. Jones.
