Tami Jean Sarmento, age 54, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, December 3, 2015 at her home.
She was born January 31, 1961 in Inglewood, California to Richard & Wilma Wilson. In 1970 she moved with her family from Inglewood to Grants Pass. She graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1979 and for three years played saxophone in the band. On January 12, 1980 in Grants Pass she married Michael R. Sarmento. While her husband served in the United States Army she lived in Kentucky and Germany. From 1990 to 2006 she worked in management as a civilian worker for the Department of Defense. In 2006 they returned to Grants Pass from Germany and since then until present, Tami has worked as a cashier at Safeway.
Tami loved her pets, especially her cats “Cuddles” and “Grey Ball.”
Survivors include her husband, Michael R. Sarmento of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother, Alfy of Vancouver, Washington; and a sister, Debra of Portland, Oregon.
A memorial service will be at 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 8, 2016 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
