Stephen J. Sutch

Stephen J. Sutch, age 93, of Glendale, died Thursday, December 2, 2010 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.

A funeral mass will be at 11:00 a.m., Monday, December 6, 2010 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Glendale. Interment will follow at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens in Grants Pass. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Stephen was born November 30, 1917 in Portage, Pennsylvania to Andy & Anna Sutch. On August 17, 1939 he married Nellie Dodson. He worked in the Pennsylvania coal mines until 1948 when he moved to Oregon. He worked as a timber faller and owned Steve’s Saw Shop until his retirement in 1979.

He was an avid elk and deer hunter and especially loved hunting in Alaska. He also enjoyed his visits to Seven Feathers Casino.

Survivors include his wife, Nellie Sutch of Glendale, Oregon; four sons, Steve Sutch Jr. and wife Barbara of Myrtle Creek, Oregon, Ed Sutch and wife Linda of Glendale, Oregon, Darl Sutch and wife Francine of Luxembourg, Europe, Gary Sutch and wife Barbara of Anchorage, Alaska; a daughter, Debra Sutch and husband Craig Christensen of Creswell, Oregon; ten grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by four brothers, one sister and his parents.
