Stephen Coley

Stephen Coley, age 63, of Kerby, died August 12, 2020 at his home.

Stephen was born August 11, 1957 in Bakersfield, California. He was a cabinet woodworker. He could fix anything and loved taking things apart to see how they worked as he always had it in his mind, he could make it better. If something was broke, his family called it Coleyized because he would make it work again one way or another. He never threw anything away and was always bring things home. His favorite saying was “If it’s free, it’s for me.”

He enjoyed raising Australian Shepherd with wife, Sheri. He fell in love with the dogs as he got to know the breed. Before meeting Sheri, he didn’t know the difference between Ol’ Roy or a quality dog food. His favorite dog was Harlow. It took three people to get Harlow away from Stephen after the EMTs left his home.

Survivors include his wife Sheri Coley; his children Shelly, Jesse, Harmony, Shawn, Nicholas, Carissa, Dalton, Taylor and Daniel (they might not all be biological kids, but he always said there is no such thing as a step or half – he loved them all); his brothers Ryk and David; sisters Diane, T-Lay, and Lisa; several grandkids, nieces, cousins, aunts, and uncles; and his best friend of 50 years Richard Turnbull who became an ordained minister to marry Stephen and Sheri January 1, 2017.

He was preceded in death by his sister Carol.
