Stanley Emil Turpen, age 89, of Grants Pass Oregon, passed away peacefully on December 3, 2014 at Three Rivers Community Hospital in Grants Pass, Oregon. Born in Portland, Oregon on May 29, 1925 to Lawrence and Katherine (Heilman) Turpen.
Stanley met the love of his life, Dorothy Long Turpen, in 1959. They were married December 18, 1964. Together they raised six children, Reginald Lane, Scott (Sheri) Turpen, Victoria Turpen, Kathy (Grant) Lindsey, Larry Turpen, Diane Turpen. He adored his 11 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his sister Irene Turpen-Wood.
Stanley worked as an Asbestos Worker for Union Local 36 from 1947 – 1980. He enjoyed his occupation as well as the people he worked with and stayed in communication with the Union to keep up with current information.
Stanley was a loving, giving man whose passion was being in his workshop creating special gifts out of wood for his family and friends. He loved garage sales, his flower garden, visiting wineries, fishing and watching the many squirrels and birds that came into his yard for their daily feeding.
Funeral Services for Stanley will be at St. Anne's Catholic Church 1131 NE 10th St Grants Pass, Oregon 97526 on Tuesday, December 16 at 2:00 PM.
