Sergeant Benjamin M. Fager Ret., age 33, of Grants Pass, Oregon, died Friday, January 14, 2011 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Friday, January 28, 2011 at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Remembrances may be made to PTSD.
He was born August 14, 1977 in Portland, Oregon to Edward & Elena Fager. In 1997 he graduated from Roosevelt High School and also attended Portland State University. In 1997 he joined the United States Army and in 2003 achieved the status of Army Ranger. He spent three tours in Iraq and in 2006 was placed on temporary disability retirement leave. In 2008 he moved to the Rogue River/Grants Pass area. On November 23, 2008 in Rogue River he married his wife, Brandy.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His hobbies include camping, hiking, being outdoors, and shooting guns.
In addition to his wife, Brandy Fager of Grants Pass, survivors include a daughter, Gabrielle Fager of Grants Pass; five sons, Maximous Fager of Grants Pass, Tristan Cronin of Grants Pass; Lucius Fager of Salem, Ryan Cronin of Grants Pass and Ben Fager Jr of Grants Pass; his father and stepmother, Ed & Sherry Fager of Longview, Washington; his mother, Elena Fager of Portland; a sister, Wendy Martin of Longview, Washington; and a brother, Abraham Fager of Grants Pass.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Kayshla Fager in March 30, 2005.
