Sebastian “Savey” Vargas, age 82, of Rogue River, died September 28, 2023 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.
Sebastian was born October 22, 1940 in Tampa, Florida to Anthony & Violet Vargas. On September 13, 1997 in Reedsport, Oregon he married Gay Shirtcliff. He lived in Sams Valley and Gold Hill before moving to Rogue River in 2010. Over the years, he worked as a Reflexologist and owned and operated Brothers Tree Surgeons. He retired as an arborist after 30+ years.
Sebastian was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and enjoyed speaking to neighbors about the Bible.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and camping.
Survivors include his wife Gay Vargas of Rogue River; children Savy Vargas Jr of Boise, Idaho, Charlene Quinlan of Monroe, Oregon, Michael Vargas of Milgram, Georgia, Scott Vargas of Hudson, Florida and Donald Vargas of Sunnyvale, California; sisters Shirley Lapinski, Christine Parsons, Diane Kelley and Anita Ross; brothers Mike Vargas and David Vargas; ten grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers William Vargas and Leo Vargas.
A memorial service will be held at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Gold Hill on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 2:00 p.m.
