Ryan Timothy Peterson, age 31, of Grants Pass, died May 30, 2020 at his home.
Ryan was born in Grants Pass, Oregon in 1988. He attended Highland Elementary School for his primary education, North Middle School, then Grants Pass High School. While at Grants Pass High, he played football and was awarded the Most Valuable Player award in 2006. He was also awarded the state all-conference title for offense and defense and was selected to play in the Les Schwab all-star game. During Ryan’s high school years, he also went to the state track meet in the 400-meter relay and javelin. His 400-meter relay team took 3rd place.
After high school he attended and played football at Shasta College. He finished out his schooling at SOU and graduated with a Bachelors degree in Psychology. He then went to work as a deputy with the Josephine County Sheriff’s Department.
Currently Ryan was employed by Copeland as an equipment operator in the 701 operators and engineers union.
His family was his biggest hobby along with hunting, fishing, rafting, shooting his guns (target practice) and camping. Ryan loved to go boating with his family and was a huge fan of the Oregon State Beavers football and baseball teams.
Ryan is survived by his mother and stepfather Joanie & Keith Jensen; his father and stepmother Timothy & Marisa Peterson; sister Kristina Snyder; brother Thomas Peterson; stepsisters Julie Scurlock and Kristina Pepper; stepbrothers Colin Jensen and Scott Freeman; his girlfriend Shea Cambridge and her two daughters; and his grandmother Nancy A. Peterson.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Howard Quinton and Betty Quinton; grandfather Gary Peterson and stepbrother Nicholas Jensen.
A visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday, June 8, 2020 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12 Noon, Tuesday, June 9, 2020 at St. Anne Catholic Church with Father William Holtzinger officiating. Interment will follow at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
