Ruth Violet Williams, age 91, of Grants Pass, passed away on March 23, 2024, at her home.
Born on May 18, 1932, in Dill City, Oklahoma to James & Ollie Dorrough, Ruth spent her formative years in Redding, California. On December 24, 1949, she married Clarence Russell Williams in Reno, Nevada. Ruth dedicated many years of her life working as a custodian at South Lake Tahoe Schools before eventually settling in Grants Pass.
A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Merlin Ward, Ruth found great fulfillment as a family history consultant. Ruth enjoyed genealogy and uncovering ancestral stories.
Ruth is survived by her children: Peggy Hansen of Springfield, Oregon; Gary Williams and Larry (Kathy) Williams of Grants Pass; Debbie Williams of Georgetown, Texas; and Linda (Bob) Akerson of Morgan Hill, California. She also leaves behind 18 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren, and several great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Russell Williams on December 10, 2015, and her 12 siblings.
A funeral service to honor Ruth's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, April 5, 2024, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Merlin Ward, 339 Jump Off Joe Creek Road, Grants Pass OR 97526 with Bishop Brian Lee presiding. The interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
