Ruth Putnam Young Menke

Ruth Putnam Young Menke, age 99, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at Sweet Pea Retirement Living.

A graveside service will be at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Save the Redwoods League, 111 Sutter Street, 11th Floor, San Francisco, California 94104.

Ruth was born on July 14, 1915 in the Bandana Community in Mitchell County, North Carolina to George & Beulah Putnam.

Ruth was preceded in death by husbands, Dewey Thomas Young and Warren D. Menke; two daughters, Shelby Jean Martin and Marilyn Oravetz.

She is survived by a daughter, Beverly Young Maize and husband, John of Weaverville, North Carolina; two grandsons, Pat W. Martin and wife, Alice of Canyon Lake, California and Jody D. Martin of Encinitas, California; great-grandchildren, Riley Martin, Cole Martin, Ava Martin and Sophie Martin and a special canine friend, Beau.

The family would like to thank special caregivers, Joe and Carolyn Hironaka and Dr. Marcus Opel for their exceptional devotion and compassionate care. The family would also like to thank Barbara & Syd Uliksen for their help throughout the years.
