Ruth Moran, age 76, of O’Brien, died April 26, 2023 at her home.
Ruth was born January 15, 1947 in North Bend, Oregon. In her early childhood, she moved to the Red Bluff, California area with her family. While in California she had two daughters Ruth Roxanna Clinton and Carol Christine Clinton and one son John Theodore Baker. In the early 1970s she moved to Naples, Idaho with her husband, James Frederick Moran and his two sons James Gregory Moran and Jason James Moran. Together, Ruth and James had two more daughters, Virgie Mae Moran and Rebecca Rose Moran. In 1983 her husband Jim and daughter Roxanna were murdered and Ruth adopted Roxanna’s son J. Paul (Plumley) Lightfoot. In 1985 Ruth married Chuck Lightfoot and he had two sons Charlie Lightfoot and Andy Lightfoot. Ruth and Chuck and the nine kids moved just outside of Red Bluff to Ponderosa Sky Ranch in Tehama, California. In 1987 and Ruth and the family moved to O’Brien, Oregon. After a divorce in 1990 she was a single mother until all the kids grew up and moved out except J. Paul. Ruth and J. Paul moved again to Red Bluff where Ruth worked as a cashier and in the florist and deli departments at a grocery story. She also owned her own party decoration business. In 2009 Ruth returned to O’Brien to be closer to her daughter Virgie Moran and grandsons Jared Moran Peterson and Jacob Bobby Moran-Baty. She lived out the rest of her days in O’Brien.
Ruth was a lifetime member of the Moose Lodge #2002 in Red Bluff.
Her hobbies included amazing beadwork especially the peyote stitch and earrings with porcupine quills; painting yard deco that she could display in her own yard amongst her flower beds; gardening; and other crafts.
Survivors include children Carol Clinton of Spokane, Washington, James Moran of Klamath Falls, Oregon, Jason Moran of Anchorage, Alaska, John Baker of Spokane, Washington, Virgie Moran of O’Brien, and J. Paul Lightfoot of Tucson, Arizona; brother George Baker of Red Bluff, California; sister Rachel Baker of Corning, California; 13 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by spouse Jim Moran; children Roxanna Clinton and Rebecca Bivens; brother Mitchell Baker; and her parents Louis and Ruth Baker.

A celebration of life was held at Illinois Valley Funeral Directors. Interment was held at Paradise Valley Cemetery in Bonners Ferry, Idaho.
