Ruth E. Jackson, age 85, of Rogue River, died Sunday, April 27, 2008 at Three Rivers Community Hospital.
A memorial graveside service will be at 3:00 p.m., Friday, May 2, 2008 at Woodville Cemetery with Pastor Scott Covey officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
She was born Ruth Elizabeth Butterfield on November 17, 1922 in Chamberlain, South Dakota to Edward & Anna (Howe) Butterfield. She was raised in South Dakota. In her later years she married Leonard L. Jackson who preceded her in death. In 1999 she moved to Rogue River from Grants Pass.
She was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Her hobbies included ceramics and oil painting. She also enjoyed birds, especially cockatoos.
Survivors include a son, John White of Rogue River; a sister, Laura Hoerster of Grants Pass; three brothers, Edward Leo Butterfield of Pennsylvania, Robert Raymond Butterfield of Fortuna, California and Donald Ralph Butterfield of Medford; two grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Robert “Eddie” White and George Franklin; a brother, James Butterfield and a sister, Margaret Butterfield.
