Russell Carl Murrey

Russell Carl “Rusty” Murrey, age 90, of Grants Pass, died Tuesday, August 19, 2008 at his home.

A visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to service time, Monday, August 25, 2008 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center, Relief Society Room.

A funeral service will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 25, 2008 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Stake Center (1969 Williams Highway, Grants Pass). Interment with military honors will be at 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 25, 2008 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Rusty was born September 4, 1917 in Rawson, Ohio to George Ross & Mary Erma Murrey. He grew up in Detroit, Michigan. During World War II he served in the United States Army Air Corps Hq 387th Bomb GP from April 6, 1942 until his honorable discharge on October 25, 1945. On August 28, 1954 he married Bette F. Moe of Victorville, California. They lived in Salinas, California until a transfer brought them to Grants Pass in 1974. In 1979 he retired from Litton Industries.

Trained in architectural plastering, he loved woodworking, dancing, golfing, traveling, and reading.

In addition to his wife, Bette Murrey of Grants Pass; survivors include a daughter Susan Abbott of Arizona; a son Gregory Murrey of Minnesota; ten grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
