Ruby Violet Bailey returned to her heavenly home on February 24, 2019 after a brief illness, at the age of 96 years. She remained intellectually and physically active her entire life before her illness.
Born in Turlock, CA, Ruby was the daughter of Elvira (Johnson) and Eric Sundstrom. She grew up in Berkeley, lived briefly in the Southeastern US, and returned in adulthood to Berkeley, later relocating in Oakland. In the early 1980s, she retired as a civilian employee of the United States Navy, in the Naval Supply Department, responsible for supplying the naval base at Subic Bay through the Vietnam War. After retirement, she resided in Grants Pass until her death. While a resident of the Bay Area, she attended the Evangelical Free Church; after her move to Grants Pass, she attended River Valley Church for many years.
During her retirement, she lovingly cultivated an extensive rose garden and enjoyed creating beautiful floral arrangements. Her other hobbies included entertaining at home and assembling jigsaw puzzles. More than anything, she loved spending time with her beloved family.
Ruby was the loving and devoted wife of W. Thermon Bailey (deceased 1999). She is survived by and will be lovingly remembered by her son, Ronald (Laura) Bailey of Sunriver, OR; grandson Adam (Beth) Bailey of Parker, CO; grandson Justin (Lisa) Bailey of Eagle Point, OR; and great grandchildren Keyton and Sadie of Parker, CO.
Private memorial service and interment will occur at the family’s convenience. Arrangements by Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.
