Roy Davison

Roy Davison was born in Klamath Falls, the second of five children, and grew up in Grants Pass, Oregon. During high school, he worked in the hop fields, played football on the high school team and met his future wife, Jean. During the war years, he worked for the civil service in Honolulu, Hawaii where he was joined by Jean Denniston, who traveled by ship to be with him. They were married in Honolulu in September, 1943.

After the war, Roy and Jean returned to Grants Pass, and then moved to Sacramento, California where their two daughters were born. In 1965 the family moved back to Grants Pass, where Roy owned and operated a concrete pipe manufacturing business. After his wife of more than 60 years passed in 2007, he lived for a time at OakLane Retirement, where he filled the hallways with his singing and made many new friends. In January 2014, he moved to Home on the Rogue where he spent the last year of his life with his loyal dog Pugzee by his side.

Roy was best known for his love of God, good humor and always ready helping hand. He was an active volunteer, teaching Sunday school and helping to build the 'Singing Christmas Tree' at Parkway Christian Center and the playground at the All Sports Park. The life of the party, Roy enjoyed get-togethers with family and friends. After they retired, he and his brothers could often be found having breakfast together at a local diner.

Always a jokester, he could laugh harder and longer than anyone. He kept up a good attitude throughout his life, even during difficult times. He was especially fond of children and was lovingly called “Uncle Roy” by nieces, nephews and their friends and family. He was deeply loved by his large extended family, his greatest joy.

Roy is survived by his two daughters, Fran Davison and Kathi Davison Klingler, son in laws Craig Mosbaek and Kevin Klingler, his granddaughter Ellie Mosbaek, brother Jay Davison, sister Joan Avila and his loyal dog Pugzee, always at his feet. His life was greatly enhanced from the longtime compassionate care by Dawn Armstrong and his recent caretaker at Home on the Rogue, Joni Sager. To both, Fran and Kathi will always be grateful.

A viewing will be from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2014 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2014 at Hull & Hull Chapel with Pastor Everett Denniston officiating. Private interment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park.
