Ron was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed bow hunting, fishing, camping, at the coast and upper lakes with his wife and beloved children. He,also, enjoyed playing cards, cribbage, and bowling with family and friends. He was known throughout the valley for his unlimited high arch pitch softball that he enjoyed immensely up until he was 70 years old and then even played one last time on a senior team at the age of 80 years old and got a hit!
He was a jokster, and friend to all he crossed paths with, and was defiantly loved and will be missed by all. The family is thankful for him recording all of life’s events which he treasured.
Born in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to Henry and Louise Staniforth, November 29, 1937 one of seven children. Ron dropped out of school in the 8th grade to help support his family. Ron went to work as a bell hop, and with his first $50 dollar tip, he purchased a necklace and earring set for his mother whom he loved dearly.
Ron joined the Navy in 1956, then married his “Luv” Patricia Garrett in 1957 and was married for nearly 58 years. She preceded him in death.
Their family started in 1958 with the birth of their eldest child Patty (May), she was soon followed by Ronnie Staniforth, Marie (Hess), and Susie (White).
His world was his kids and making cherished memories with them, including waking them up to singing “Oh What a Beautiful Morning” and “Good Morning World”. This endeared tradition spread to his three loving sons-in-law, 13 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Ron is survived by his brother Dexter Staniforth.
Ron’s varied jobs included working as a bell hop, making toys for a toy company, working with his brothers at the Chrysler Corporation plant, and working at Grange Coop-op, owning his own tree pruning business, and owning/operating Rogue Valley Fire Extinguishers for many, many years.
Ron passed away peacefully with his family by his side, and went on to glory with his saviour Jesus Christ on October 4, 2024 while living at Barlett House Memory Care.
