Ronald Ray “Ron” Lewis, 87, of Cave Junction, died Sunday, April 22, 2007 at his home.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Monday, April 30, 2007 at Eagle Point National Cemetery. Illinois Valley Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
He was born on October 20, 1919 in Rector, Missouri. On November 25, 1939 in Salem, Missouri, he married Lenore Williams, who preceded him in death in 2000 after 60 years of marriage. He owned Lewis Garage (auto repair) from 1946 until 1955. He moved to Cave Junction, Oregon in 1955 and started Lewis Saw Shop at that time and worked until his retirement. His son Mark is currently owner and operator of Lewis Power Equipment in Grants Pass, Oregon.
He worked for the Civilian Corp in Washington State, Oregon and California until he joined the Army during World War II. He served as a Staff Sergeant in Italy, where he worked on the building of bridges over the rivers for the troops to cross over.
Survivors include his two daughters, Sonja Harrison of Riverside, California; and Carolyn Stauber of Grants Pass; his son, Mark Lewis of Grants Pass; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Juanita Price of Katy, Texas.
