Ronald M. Barnell

Ronald M. Barnell, age 75, of Grants Pass, died January 31, 2020 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center of natural causes.

Ron was born May 25, 1944 in Grand Forks, North Dakota. Ron was a devoted husband of 42 years to Bonnie Barnell (Tooley) and proud father of seven daughters. He served four years in the United States Army. In 1965 he moved to Grants Pass and made his career of 41 years in the timber industry retiring from Boise Cascade in 2006.

His greatest joys in life were spending time with his children and grandchildren.

Ron was an avid golfer and a member of the Grants Pass Golf Club for many years. He was also a dedicated Oregon Ducks fan.

Survivors include his wife Bonnie Barnell of Grants Pass, Oregon; seven daughters Rhonda Swearingen of Delta Junction, Alaska, Tammie Gilles of Salem, Oregon, Rebecca Barnell of Hamburg, New York, Rhonda Hurst of Grants Pass, Oregon, Renae Jurek of Corfu, New York, Charla Orueta of Mesa, Arizona and Rachelle Barnell-Gilmore of Grants Pass, Oregon; two sisters Vickie Keenan and Karen Colton; brother Kenneth Barnell; 19 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents Victor & Charlotte Barnell; sisters Terry Searcy, Marilyn Roark and Shirley Lommen; and grandson Colton Lasker.

A funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at Hull & Hull Funeral Directors.

Private interment will be at Eagle Point National Cemetery.
