Ronald Kenneth Newby, age 63, went home to be with the Lord on July 7, 2016.
Ron was born on July 22, 1952 in Alexandria, Virginia. His father was Burton C. Newby and mother was Lorraine L. Newby, both have passed away. Ron also had a brother, David C. Newby who has passed away. Ron grew up in Norfolk, Virginia. He graduated from Great Bridge High School in 1970. Ron lived in many places including Iran for a year due to his father's career in the Navy.
Ron went on to attend college at Old Dominion University in Virginia, graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Ron's parents retired and moved to Idaho, and Ron followed and went to Pharmacy school. After receiving his pharmacy license, Ron began looking for work in Oregon where he landed in Roseburg, Oregon. He met and married his wife, Trudi. They were married for 36 years.
During Ron's career, he was respected by many professionals and customers. He always took the time to listen, and had a kind heart counseling his customers, which was his favorite part of his job. After retiring he continued to hear from customers saying how much he was missed. His staff also missed his firm but loving approach. Ron had a wonderful dry and witty sense of humor. He was blessed with intelligence.
Ron and Trudi have two daughters, Olivia and Andrea. Ron cherished and adored his girls and spent time with them boating the Rogue River, hiking and spending quality time with them. They went on many wonderful family vacations and especially enjoyed Black Butte, Oregon. He was so proud of both of them. Ron also loved his pets Duncan and Leo.
Ron loved the outdoors, biking, hiking and especially kayaking. He kayaked many Class 4 and 5 rapids on various rivers.
Ron was a loving and thoughtful husband and father. He will be greatly missed. Most importantly, Ron, loved the Lord, and is now in Heaven with his Dad, Mom and brother. Our hearts break but we are comforted in knowing he now has no pain and can walk with Jesus in joy and peace in Heaven.
A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, July 16, 2016 at Edgewater Christian Fellowship, 101 Assembly Circle, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526 with Pastor Lowell Anderson officiating.
