Ronald Keith Foster, of Grants Pass, Oregon, the son of Harold Foster and Margaret Exley of Erie, Pennsylvania. Born on May 4, 1948, has passed away at the age of 71 on September 2, 2019 at 11:59am.
Ron is survived by his sisters, Joan Fiesler, Judith Enstrom, Diane Matz and Alice Foster of Pennsylvania; his two adult sons, Ronald Keith Foster II and Phillip Foster, as well as three grandchildren, Kodiak, Rachel and Peter Foster. He is preceded in death by his oldest son Cameron Foster; his mother Margaret and father Harold; his sister Sandra Foster; and brother David Foster.
In his youth, Ron served four years in the Navy with an honorable discharge at the age of 22. After his discharge from the military, he found his passion utilizing his artistic abilities as a wood carver and sculptor and is best known for his myrtle wood hummingbird carvings, wooden spoons and knives that can be found all along the Oregon coast. Many of his larger carvings and sculptures also appear at many National Parks, National Monuments, in private homes, as well as the President Ford Museum. Ron will be remembered by his great love of story-telling, a life dedicated to serving others in his church congregation, as well as in the community.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints at 747 NE Savage Street. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors in charge of local arrangements.
