Rodger Charles Kurtz, age 63, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, August 23, 2012 at his home.

Rodger was born August 2, 1949 in Kalamazoo, Michigan to Rodger & Betty Kurtz. He lived in Kalamazoo until the age of 12 when he moved with his family to Salinas, California. He lived in Salinas for about eight years and while attending schools there, he worked as a box maker. He then moved to Phoenix, Arizona where he worked in the copper mines and in the late 1970s moved to Washington State where he worked in a feed store and as a self-employed carpenter in residential construction. In 1983 after being involved in an automobile accident, he returned to Salinas to be with his parents. On July 11, 1987 he married Peggy DeLair and together they moved to Roseburg in 2000 and to Grants Pass in 2002.
Rodger was a life member of the North American Hunting Club.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, and watching cartoons. He especially enjoyed visiting with family and loved his dog.
In addition to his wife, Peggy Kurtz of Grants Pass, Oregon; he is survived by three daughters, Trista Ryan, Melissa Kasten, and Melinda Jamison all of New Berlin, Wisconsin; his mother, Betty Swartz of Grants Pass, Oregon; a brother, Daniel Kurtz of Salinas, California; and seven grandchildren.
