Rod B. Ewing, age 74, of Sunny Valley, passed away peacefully Wednesday, July 3, 2013 at his home surrounded by family and his wife, Peggy.
A memorial service will be at 12 Noon, Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Old Town Hall in Sunny Valley. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
Rod was born January 5, 1939 in Portland, Oregon to Forrest & Kathleen Ewing. He attended Multnomah Elementary and graduated from Lincoln High School in 1956. He then attended the University of Oregon before enlisting in the United States Marine Corps. In the late 1960s he moved to the San Francisco Bay Area and worked as a mechanic. He retired from the City of Oakland where he was the only Field Mechanic for the Oakland Fire Department. In 2001 he retired and moved from San Pablo, California to his home in Sunny Valley, Oregon that he custom built.
Rod was an Oakland Raiders fan and enjoyed watching sports and building and riding Harleys and Hot Rods. He especially loved being with friends and family.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy S. Ewing of Sunny Valley, Oregon; a daughter, Amanda Ewing of Richmond, California; stepdaughters, Brandi Wytcherley of Glendale, Oregon, Sadie Emond of Grants Pass, Oregon, and Summer Buck of San Diego, California; and adopted son, Mark Gerace of Pinole, California; many grandchildren; and a sister, Marcia Coward and husband David of Hillsboro, Oregon.
