Roberta Adams Minner, age 89, of Grants Pass, died Monday, February 2, 2009 at Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.
A funeral service will be at 9:00 a.m., Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Hull & Hull Chapel. Interment will follow at Wilderville Cemetery. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
She was born February 18, 1919 in Cedar City, Utah the 5th of 6 children born to Joseph Edwin Smith & Vivian June Adams Smith. At the age of 12, Roberta’s mother died. Roberta then lived with her older sister and helped care for her sister’s children. On January 20, 1935 she married Nicholas Carlino and they had three children. Roberta lived in Las Vegas, Nevada and Ridgecrest, California before moving to Grants Pass in 1947. Nicholas died on September 6, 1960. On March 24, 1962 she married Neely Williams and they later divorced. On November 20, 1982 she married Thomas Franklin Minner and he also preceded her in death. She was a professional seamstress most of her life.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the 40+ Dance Club.
She volunteered many years with the Home Economics Unit of the Oregon State Extension Service teaching homemaking lessons. She also served as Secretary-Treasurer for the Oregon Farm Bureau Association.
Her hobbies included gardening, dancing, sewing, and painting.
Survivors include two children, Jack Earl Carlino and Barbara Ann (Carlino) Thomas; nine grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 17 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by a son, Nicholas Dee Carlino; a great-great-grandson, Noah Steven Hansen; three sisters, Clara Adams Smith, Lydia Ann Smith, and Elizabeth Cox Smith; and two brothers, Wayne Adams Smith and Joseph Robert Smith.
