Robert Lee Crumrine, age 96, of Grants Pass, died Sunday, May 7, 2017 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center in Grants Pass.
He was born Robert Lee Crumrine on August 24, 1920 in San Diego, California to Herbert Lee Crumrine and Gertrude Elda (Grimsley) Crumrine. He went to school in El Monte and graduated from Long Beach Polytechnic High School. He joined the United States Navy at Long Beach Naval Air Station; then he married Laura Louise (Ames). After serving eight years in the Navy during World War II he was honorably discharged and stayed in aviation for two more years after the war.
Robert was employed by MacMillan Petroleum Corporation for 30 years. Together with his wife Laura, he moved from Bellflower, California to retire in Grants Pass (“God’s Country”). Laura died in 1981.
On January 3, 1983 in Paradise, California, Robert married Marlene (Coleman) Sanders, and 32 years ago the couple had a son, John Lee Crumrine, in 1984.
Robert was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Merlin Ward. He enjoyed airplanes, camping, fishing and hunting.
Survivors include his wife, Marlene Crumrine of Grants Pass; his children, John Lee Crumrine, Arbra Ann Lambert and Robert James Crumrine all of Grants Pass; six step-children Rob Sanders of Oklahoma, Lisa Sanders of Montana, Steven Sanders of Arkansas, Cheryl Sanders of California, Cynthia Sanders of Oregon, and Michelle Sanders of Hawaii; a sister, Hazel Testa Crumrine of Colorado; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Helen Harrington Crumrine.
A graveside service will be held at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens on Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. with Military Funeral Honors by the United States Navy Honor Guard. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
