Robert Lee Barney 'Bob Barney', 79, of Grants Pass, passed away on Thursday, August 29, at his home, in his favorite chair, watching the Western Channel.
Bob was born in Topeka, Kansas on April 6, 1934 to Galen and Nellie Barney. He had two older sisters, then two younger sisters. He is survived by Bernita and Carol Ann.
Bob Barney was a Horse Trader from 1952 until he passed away. He has traded from coast to coast, and from the Canadian to the Mexican borders, he wasn't afraid to get in a rig that you and I wouldn't drive to the other end of town and go down the road. Life was always an adventure. He has owned horses ranging from the worst imaginable broncs to World Champions, along the way doing the horse industry a huge service. He was well known and had friends in all walks of life. His knowledge was immeasurable, and he passed it on to those who were willing to learn from him, leaving his legacy as people who will train and affect the horse industry for years to come.
His door was always open and he never knew a stranger. Bob never had a bad day. He would never lock his door or take his keys out of his trucks. and most of all he never had to stop working to have fun, that was just the kind of guy he was. He was courteous, polite and smiled all the way to the end.
Bob Barney had four children from two marriages, the first to Beth Barney having two sons Montey Barney and Andy Barney and the second marriage to Lucille Barney having two daughters, Amanda Vansickle and Stacy Tavares.
He is survived by Lucille, Montey, Andy, Amanda and Stacy. Along with 13 grandchildren and many great grand children, cousins, nieces and nephews.
He loved to spend time with his friends and family.
There will be a Service presented by Pastor James Downing at the Jerome Prairie Bible Church, 2564 Walnut Avenue, on Saturday the 7th of September 2013 at 1PM. Afterward there will be a 'Celebration of Bob Barney's Life' at his home.
