Robert Glenn Perkins, age 81, of Grants Pass, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 at Rogue Valley Medical Center.
A memorial graveside service will be at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Eagle Point National Cemetery with Sgt. Mark Dalton officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.
He was born December 31, 1926 in Eagle Point to Nathan & Mary Perkins. From February 28, 1944 to May 9, 1946 he served in the United States Navy during World War II. He served aboard the USS ATTU and was awarded the Asiatic Pacific Area Campaign Medal (two stays) and the World War II Victory Medal. On November 25, 1949 in Reno, Nevada he married Jeannette Marie Brown of Cave Junction. He was a log truck driver and a longhaul driver. Following his truck driving days, he worked at FourPly for 40 years where he retired.
He was a past member of the Moose Lodge and the Eagles Lodge.
His hobbies included bowling, hunting, fishing, playing horseshoes and especially loved gardening and family gatherings.
He is survived by his wife Jeanette Perkins of Grants Pass; four children, Diana J. Breedlove of Grants Pass; Robert M. Perkins of Prescott, Arizona; Judith A. Thompson and John G. Perkins both of Grants Pass; 9 grandchildren and 16 great-granchildren; a sister, Arleta Compton and brother Roy Perkins both of Murphy.
Preceding him in death was a daughter, Sherry; two brothers and two sisters.
