Robert Eugene Garrison

Robert Garrison, age 84, of Grants Pass, passed away January 11, 2021 at Asante Three Rivers Medical Center.

An only child, Robert was born January 10, 1937 in New Westminster, British Columbia, Canada, to Owen & Gladys Garrison.

Robert moved to the United States in 1954, to complete his education in Seattle, Washington. In 1985, he settled permanently in Grants Pass.

Robert had a career in commercial construction. He also received a degree in Real Estate Appraisal and was licensed to sell insurance and did so for approximately five years. After retirement, he became the manager of Lee’s Mini Storage in Grants Pass. In 1955 he married Evelyn Newport. Years later after a divorce, he married Judy Moffit.

Through the years, Robert volunteered in many different ministries including Associate Pastor of Rogue River Assembly of God Church; manager of Harvest House Food Bank in Rogue River; and Chaplain for Highland House Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. He also volunteered for various church work groups and participated in the county-wide annual “Serve Grants Pass” ministry. He especially loved the time he spent doing visitations and prayer.

Robert was a member of Parkway Christian Center for over 20 years. At Parkway he served as the head of the prayer team for the senior members “Traditions” service. Robert was known as the “Prayer Guy” and loved more than anything to pray for those in need.

Survivors include his wife of 34 years, Judy Garrison of Grants Pass; two sons Randie Garrison and Johnathon Garrison both of Hillsboro, Oregon; three daughters Dana Maubach and Tiffaney Rigel both of Grants Pass and Jennifer Reed of Salem, Oregon; 19 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; his son Gregory Garrison; and his daughter Robin Starns.

A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, January 28, 2021 at Parkway Christian Center, 229 NE Beacon Drive, Grants Pass, Oregon 97526. Private inurnment will be at Hawthorne Memorial Gardens.
