Robert E. Morrow

Robert E. Morrow, age 79, of Grants Pass, died Monday, May 12, 2014 at his home.

No services are planned. Private scattering of ashes will take place along the Rogue River. Southern Oregon Cremation Services are in charge of arrangements.

Robert was the oldest of six sons born to Bonnie Barrett Morrow & Edward Kenneth Morrow on May 2, 1935 in Culver City, California. In 1949 he moved with his family to a farm along the Applegate River. In 1953 he graduated from Grants Pass High School and in the fall of that year he joined the United States Air Force where he became a cockpit instrument specialist repairing auto pilots and compasses on the B-52 Bombers. He was attached to the 301st Bomb Wing at Barksdale Air Force Base in Shreveport, Louisiana – a strategic air command base. He retained a lifelong interest in airplanes and built many models. He was also interested in restoration of antique cars, building player pianos, gardening, painting, dancing and loved animals. He was a volunteer at the animal shelter for a time and was also a guide on the Rogue River, in addition to employment. He worked at plywood mills, drove truck for Mobile Oil and Richfield Oil companies and retired in 1989 from Farmers Building Supply after 25 years of employment. He participated in many marathons and was an avid bicyclist. In 1957 he married Violet Comstock who survives, also sons, Timothy and Ted and a daughter, Monica, all of Grants Pass. He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and friends, brothers, Don and Wayne of Grants Pass, Stuart and Dennis of Oceanside, California and Patrick of Paso Robles, California.
