Robert Boone Moore passed away Friday, February 3, 2012 at his home in Grants Pass of natural causes. Bob was 57 at the time of his death; he was born October 26, 1954 in Chicago, Illinois. His family moved to Grants Pass in 1961 when his father, Charles Moore, was employed by The Daily Courier. After High School Bob earned a bachelor's degree in political science from Oregon State University in 1976 and a law degree from Willamette University in 1979. He worked on special projects in the treasurer's office and was the legislative aid for State Representative Cecil Johnson. He was administrator for the Oregon House Republican caucus from 1980-82. In that capacity Bob Moore was very proud to be a part of passing laws that improved the life of every Veteran in Oregon. Bob was appointed Deputy State Treasurer on Aug 1, 1984. He returned home to Grants Pass in 1988, where he joined Brady Adams and Jeff Hyde in a career at Evergreen Federal Bank. Bob was promoted to Senior Vice President with specific responsibility for the Loan Department. Over his more than 20 years at Evergreen, Bob was involved in AUSPL and played a large part in helping thousands with their home financing and commercial loan needs. He was a well-respected man in the industry.
Bob was very involved in the Rogue Valley community and played a key role in the effort to build a new campus at Grants Pass High School, The All Sports Park, the new bridge, and a member of Grants Pass Rotary, to name a few. He was honored by the State of Oregon for his help with Harbeck Village, a low income housing development. Bob was on the Board of Directors for SPARC Enterprises, Inc. from 1990-1997 and was President 1992 and 1995. He was also very involved in local politics as the campaign director for 2 successful state representative champagnes in the 90’s and early 2000’s for longtime friend, Carl Wilson.
On his time off Bob enjoyed spending time with his partner Kathy A. Scott; they spent many happy years river rafting and traveling together. Bob was an avid OSU supporter and enjoyed Beaver Football with dear friend Larry B. Lewis every season. Bob Moore was a very respected, ethical, kind and generous man who lived life on his own terms. His life enriched the lives of all he served with his community involvement. Bob loved his friends and family. He will be missed every day.
Bob is survived by a sister, Joanne Simon from France, and two brothers, Jay Moore from Vancouver, WA and Tom Moore from Mt. Shasta, CA. Bob also has many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Bob was preceded in death by his father, Charles Moore and his mother Evelyn Moore. A church service will be held Friday, February 24th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Parish, 1131 NE 10th Street, Grants Pass. There will also be a Celebration of Life gathering Friday, March 9th at 5:00 p.m. at Taprock (Evergreen Room), 971 SE 6th Street, Grants Pass. All are invited to both occasions.
