Robert "Bob" Hissong

Robert “Bob” Hissong, age 76, of Glendale, died Monday, January 28, 2013 at his home.

A memorial service will be at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Glendale Elementary School with Pastor Lloyd “Buck” Tohill officiating. Hull & Hull Funeral Directors are in charge of arrangements.

Bob was born April 10, 1936 in Kalispell, Montana to Robert & Alyce (McKinley) Hissong. As a child he moved with his family first to Portland and then to Grants Pass where he graduated from Grants Pass High School in 1955. He attended Southern Oregon College and Oregon State University before enlisting in the United States Army in 1959 and serving his country until his honorable discharge in 1965. In the early 1960s he moved to Glendale, Oregon. In 1972, Bob married Candace Logan in Grants Pass. In 1968 he started work on the green chain for Robert Dollar Company (later Gregory Forest Products), retiring in the mid 1990s. He later worked for the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife doing stream survey work.

Bob was a charter member of the Josephine County Sportsman Association and a member of Olivet Presbyterian Church. He was also an active member with the Umpqua Fisherman’s Association, serving as a board member for many years and president for four terms. He served on the Oregon Salmon Trout Advisory Commission in conjunction with the Oregon Salmon Trout Enhancement Program. He served on the Water Resources Program as well as the SHIP Program for Douglas county. Additionally, he was instrumental in the UFA Hatch Box Operations Program within Douglas County.

His hobbies included trap shooting, fishing, hunting, and spending time with his children.

Bob is survived by his wife, Candace Hissong and a daughter, DeAnne Hissong both of Glendale, Oregon.

He was preceded in death by his son, Rob Hissong in 1998 and his parents.
